FORAGE APP – PRIVACY POLICY

This is the privacy policy of Satokausi Media Oy for the Forage mobile application, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Created 15.7.2026. Last updated 15.7.2026.

4. No User Accounts

Forage does not have user accounts. You do not need to register or sign in to usethe App, and we do not ask you to create a profile or a password. You can open theApp and browse the maps without giving us any personal data at all.

We only process personal data in the situations described below.

5. Legal Basis and Purposes of Processing

  • Managing subscriptions and payments – performance of a contract(GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • Customer support. If you give us your email address after purchasing asubscription, we use it to help you with your subscription – performance of acontract (Art. 6(1)(b)). Giving your address is optional and your subscriptionworks without it.
  • Newsletter and product news. If you subscribe to our emails, we use youraddress to send foraging tips, information about new map layers and seasonalcontent – consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time via theunsubscribe link in every message.
  • Analytics and product development – legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). Ouranalytics are anonymous and are not used to identify individual users.
  • Push notifications about the App, such as seasonal reminders and new maplayers – consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can turn notifications off at any time inyour device settings.
  • Advertising measurement and targeting – consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). We use Meta's advertising measurement tools to understand which advertisements lead to installs and use of the App, and to target our advertising. You can withdraw your consent at any time in the App settings or in your device's advertising settings.

6. Data We Collect

6.1 Data you provide

  • Your email address, if you choose to give it – either when subscribing to ouremails or after a purchase so that we can offer you support. Both are optional.
  • Messages you send to our support.

6.2 Data collected automatically

  • Usage and interaction data, collected through privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve it. Our analytics provider Aptabase does not use persistent device identifiers and does not build user profiles.
  • Advertising measurement data. If you give your consent, we use the Meta SDK to measure the performance of our advertising. It collects your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS) together with events such as app install, app open and subscription purchase, and sends them to Meta Platforms. Meta may use this data to measure and target advertising, including on Facebook and Instagram. If you do not give consent, or you withdraw it, this data is not collected.
  • Subscription status and purchase events. Your payment card details are processedby Apple or Google, not by us.
  • A push notification token, if you allow notifications.

6.3 Location data

Your real-time position is processed only on your device to show your location onthe map. It is not stored on our servers or shared with third parties.

When you use the address search, your search term is sent to our map provider to return results.

6.4 Saved spot

The spots you mark in the App remain solely on your device. They are not transmitted to our servers, ensuring your privacy. If you uninstall the App or switch devices, these saved spots will be lost unless backed up by your device's system.

We use the following service providers to operate the App:

Data may also be disclosed to authorities where required by law.

8. Transfers Outside the EU/EEA

Certain service providers handle data in the United States. These transfers are safeguarded by mechanisms like the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Data Retention

We retain your email address for as long as you want to hear from us, or as long as needed to provide support for your subscription. You can ask us to delete it at any time. Some data may be retained longer where required by law, for example accounting records, which are retained for the period required by Finnish accounting legislation.

10. Data Security

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the App and its services. Once you delete the App, your data is permanently removed. However, some information may be kept longer if required by law, such as for compliance with Finnish accounting regulations.

11. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Have your data deleted (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restrict or object to processing, and receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Because Forage has no user accounts, the only personal data we hold about you is the email address you have given us, if you have given one. You can unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any message, or email info@forage.living and we will delete your address and any support correspondence.

Where processing is based on consent, such as advertising measurement, you can withdraw your consent at any time in the App settings. You can also reset or limit your device's advertising identifier in your device settings, which prevents further advertising measurement.

If you believe we have processed your personal data unlawfully, you have the rightto lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our lead supervisory authorityis the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman in Finland(https://tietosuoja.fi/en). You may also lodge a complaint with the supervisoryauthority in your country of residence – in Sweden, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten(https://www.imy.se).

12. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this privacy policy. The current version is always available in theApp and on our website. Material changes will be communicated in the App.
