These Terms of Use govern the use of the Forage mobile application (“the App”), owned and developed by Satokausi Media Oy, business ID 2919584-1, Helsinki, Finland (“the Provider”). The App is available for iOS and Android devices through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
By downloading or using the App, you accept these Terms of Use. If you do not accept these Terms, do not use the App.
Forage is a consumer mobile application that displays, on a map, the predicted potential growing areas of wild berries and mushrooms. Predictions are based on continuously maintained open geospatial data, biological data and forest inventory data, using models developed together with biologists.
The App also allows users to save personal location markings, such as a favourite picking spot or a parking location. These markings are private to the user’s account.
The App uses Google Firebase services for functions such as analytics, user authentication and data storage. Firebase processes data in accordance with Google’s privacy policies: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy. Subscription management is provided through RevenueCat: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy. A full list of the service providers used by the App is set out in our Privacy Policy.
The App shows probabilities, not certainties. A predicted growing area does not guarantee that berries or mushrooms will be found there. Weather, pollinators, timing of the season and many other factors always affect the outcome. The Provider does not warrant the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of the information in the App.
The App predicts where species are likely to grow. It does not identify individual plants or mushrooms, and it is not a species identification tool.
You are solely responsible for correctly identifying anything you pick and for deciding whether it is safe to eat. Some wild mushrooms and plants are poisonous and can be confused with edible species. Never eat anything you cannot identify with certainty. If in doubt, consult a qualified expert. The Provider accepts no liability for harm resulting from misidentification or consumption of wild plants or fungi.
Some features of the App, such as saving location markings, require registration. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
Account deletion: You may delete your account and all data associated with it at any time in the App’s settings, or by emailing sami@forage.living. When an account is deleted, content created by the user, such as personal location markings, is permanently deleted.
The App offers an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the full range of species and features. The price and billing period are shown in the App before purchase.
Where required by law, statutory consumer rights, including any applicable withdrawal rights, remain unaffected.
You agree to comply with these Terms and with applicable law when using the App and when moving in nature. In the Nordic countries this includes the rules and limitations of the right of public access (in Finland “jokaisenoikeudet”, in Sweden “allemansrätten”), including respect for private property, protected areas and the privacy of others. In other countries, you are responsible for knowing and following local rules on access to nature and picking wild produce.
You may not use the App to distribute misleading, harmful or illegal content.
All content of the App, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, prediction models and software, is owned by the Provider or its licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, distribute or use the content of the App without the Provider’s permission.
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You may not:
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Provider is not liable for any damage or loss arising from the use of the App or from reliance on its predictions. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under mandatory applicable law, including mandatory consumer protection law.
The Provider reserves the right to impose sanctions for breach of these Terms, including terminating or restricting access to the App, claiming compensation for financial damage caused to the Provider, and taking legal action in serious cases.
The Provider may amend these Terms. Material changes will be communicated in the App or by other reasonable means before they take effect. By continuing to use the App after changes take effect, you accept the amended Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Disputes are resolved in the Finnish courts. If you are a consumer residing in the EU, you also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where applicable law so provides. Consumers in Finland may also refer a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta.fi), and EU consumers may use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform.
